Outdoor treasure hunts can supply the mood of adventure - one thing that makes a game more interactive and realistic. Also, your kids can get the chance to have a breath of fresh air and exercise well. You may also use this as an opportunity to let your kids unite with nature. This will indeed give them an important lesson that they can carry on for the rest of their lives.
Outdoor treasure hunts may be ideal for those whose houses have large lawns or gardens or those which are surrounded with the beauty of nature. It is important, though, that you supervise your kids well, especially if your house is near the woods or located beside a busy street. Paying extra attention to their safety would be necessary, so if possible, you can perhaps have someone to help you out.
Setting up treasure hunts could be a fun process too. All you need is a good picture of the area of your coverage. You create a rough sketch of the area, and highlight the portions in which you will be hiding the clues. The clue shall lead to another clue which will then lead to another, and so forth, until it reaches to the final treasure. The treasure could be something rewarding like a new storybook or a doll.
Have instructions given out clearly prior to the hunt. Supply them with a map of the area, so they get the feel of it. You might also let them prepare for the hunt by letting the kids craft their own pirate hats or other fun costumes to wear. To make it more fun and interactive for them, you can invite a few of their friends over and then group them in teams.

Montreal neighborhood question..any info?
Hey everyone,
I will be coming to montreal in June. I found a place to stay and I was wondering if you could tell me if the area was safe and secure. The place is the Solin hall of the Mcgill university. Its address is 3510 avenue Lionel-Groulx.
Is this area generally safe?? Would this be the st.henri area since I have heard that it isnt very safe. I really like the price and all, just wanted to know if you recommend it!

The street you are talking about is in the St. Henri area, on a dead-end street off Rue Rose-de-Lima. It is not an upscale neighbourhood. Most of the people in the area have hard-working blue-collar jobs and can't really afford to live in a more upscale area.
There is a major highway (Ville-Marie Expressway) with lots of noise during rush-hour and construction periods nearby. It's quite dusty too and you probably won't want to leave your windows open, so make sure that a window and the power in the apartment can handle a small Air Conditioner to help keep it cool during those hot days of July and August.
You also have a set of railway tracks that go right through the center of the street, although I don't know how often they are used. I think it is only for slow-moving freights on a few days a week.
But, I can tell you that it is certainly not the worst area of town. I would consider living there before I chose a place in Cote-des-Neiges or Cote-St-Paul. CDN has had vermin and bug infestations, as well as drug problems and violence. CSP has long been a hangout area for motorcycle gangs and criminal activity.
St. Henri has had a bad reputation from the past, but things have been improving quite a bit in the area. The cigarette factory closing down and being converted into loft condos, you've got corner stores and restaurants nearby that are clean and pretty safe to go to, even at night. You are not far from the Metro (subway) stations, and a walk up the really steep hill puts you in Westmount, one of the richer higher class areas of town.
